This lab is run in conjunction with the theory course Fluid Mechanics and Machinery. It introduces flow behavior, fluid forces and analysis tools. Experiments include determination of forces due to fluid flow, control volume applications, momentum and energy equations, viscosity measurement and engineering correlations. Setups include flow through tubes, flat plate, orifice meter, rotometer, friction factor in pipes and viscometer. Manometers are used for pressure measurement. Turbine components and machines like pumps, compressors and turbines are also studied.
This lab focuses on testing of I.C. Engines to understand performance and operation. Students study working principles of SI and CI engines, heat balance, speed variations and air-fuel ratio. Equipment includes 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, multi-cylinder SI engine and single-cylinder diesel engine for testing and analysis.
This lab provides hands-on training in machine shop practices. Students learn machining operations like milling, grinding, shaping, drilling, gear hobbing and gear shaping. It helps in understanding machine tools, process parameters and practical applications through real workpiece machining.
This lab provides practical knowledge on mechanisms and machine dynamics. Experiments include governors, gyroscopes, balancing machines and vibration studies. Models like gears, cams and followers help students understand fundamental mechanical concepts.
This lab introduces computer-aided design and manufacturing. Students learn modeling, animation, rendering and drafting of machine components. Equipped with CNC machines and 3D printing, it provides hands-on experience in modern manufacturing technologies.
This Heat Transfer lab provides practical knowledge on heat and mass transfer concepts. Experiments include thermal conductivity, heat transfer through composite walls, convection, Stefan-Boltzmann constant and heat exchangers. Students gain exposure to solving real industrial thermal problems.
