The Department of Mechanical Engineering established in the year 2011.In the academic year 2011-2012 with intake strength of 60 students, with the approval of AICTE, the Government of Tamilnadu and Anna University. From the academic year 2013-2014, the students intake increased up to 120.We have energetic and dynamic Faculty for providing complete Engineering Education converting young individuals into Engineers.
It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines. The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided design, and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others.
The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements in technology, and mechanical engineers today are pursuing developments in such fields as composites, mechatronics, and nanotechnology. Mechanical engineering overlaps with aerospace engineering, metallurgical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering, and other engineering disciplines to varying amounts.
Our program will provide the essential knowledge and flexibility to the future mechanical engineers who indeed will play a leading role in the creation of the technology of the twenty first century. Our laboratories are equipped with the needed equipments to provide the students with a hands-on-experience.
BE - Mechanical Engineering (Mech)
2015/BE-Mech/Rank - 45
Ever since the establishment of this institution, our primary goal is to impart high quality engineering education. The aim of department is to disseminate knowledge and technologies through quality teaching, research and its applications in mechanical and allied disciplines. We strive to ensure that all our young students have strong education in engineering & involvement in extracurricular activities. Also the emphasis on internship programs through academia industry interface is provided to keep them updated with present trend and technology. We attempt to provide our students with a cheerful, productive and satisfying experience as well as atmosphere at all level of their programme of studies to explore the marvellous world of mechanical engineering.
Bringing out quality and disciplined mechanical engineering technocrats with adequate knowledge of intellectual and hands on experiences to serve the society
To provide opportunity to shape the personality and prove the talents by means of co-curricular activities which emphasize on mastering today and preparing for tomorrow.
To extend services to the global needs of engineering industries by educating students to become professional mechanical engineers with technical excellence
The Department has eight well equipped Laboratories with state-of-art facilities. The Laboratories are:
The CAD/CAM lab is equipped with dedicated Workstations and a High-end server with ANSYS, AutoCAD, Creo and CNC Train.
Apart from the college central library, the department itself maintains its own library with titles on various streams in Mechanical Engineering. Constant addition of volumes and titles in the relevant fields is a regular feature.
